Glee actors respond to Gotye’s diss
Showbiz Tonight caught up with “Glee” star Darren Criss and “Glee” guest star Matt Bomer on the red carpet of the Met Costume Institute Gala, where the two actors responded to Gotye’s critique of their performance of “Somebody I Used to Know.”
Bomer guest-starred as Criss’s older brother Cooper Anderson on the April 10 episode of the musical TV show. Bomer & Criss sang a duet of Gotye’s hit song.
After the episode, Gotye told the “Sunday Mail” that he was disappointed in the vocals of the performance of his song saying it was “dinky and wrong,” but Criss tells Showbiz Tonight that he thinks the slam was blown out of proportion, and he’s still a Gotye fan.
“That’s a common example of the media running away with something I think was completely harmless,” said Criss. “I’ve been a long time Gotye fan…The fact that Gotye even knows who I am and what my name is, I am super thrilled.”
Bomer laughed off the criticism telling Showbiz Tonight, “Art is totally subjective.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gotye later clarified his statement about the “Glee” cover at a concert in Los Angeles saying he was referring to his own song as “dinky” and that he actually thought the Criss-Bomer collaboration was “clever” and a “great idea.”
